Here's Why

Here's a good example of why high schoolers are required to slide at home plate. This young man was able to be helped to his feet and walk to the dugout, but it went downhill from there. After the game he had to be wheeled off the diamond on a stretcher and taken to the hospital.

Good shot. That can be scary. Something similar happend to my son last week. He was boxing in the OKC tough man contest against a guy his age and size. After the fight, which was an excellent one, the other kid collapsed in the ring. He was rushed to OU med center with a brain hemorrage. They did emergency surgery but could not save his life. He passed away 2 days later and left a girlfriend who was 6 months pregnant. Really sad deal. My son was devastated. We went to the funeral. Very, very sad. It could have just as easily been my son, dead at 23 years old. A scary deal.

WOW that is a HORRIFYING story. Can't imagine what that must be like for his family or for your son.

very good action shot. I have one like that of my son. It was during a t-ball game. and he was running home and the catcher missed catching the ball but still tried to tag him. He got hit in the face. It's hard to teach a 5 year old to slide. ha ha. Intelephoto, my wife told me about that kid who died during the tough man. Please tell your son to keep his head up.
